Plastics treaty talks in Geneva adjourned after failure to reach consensus
Geneva, Aug 15: Following 10 days of negotiations, Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) talks to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, adjourned early Friday without consensus on a text of the instrument. The committee agreed to resume negotiations at a future date to be announced.
Final round for landmark treaty on plastic pollution begins in Geneva
New Delhi, Aug 5: Starting Tuesday, world leaders, delegates and observer organisations, comprising scientists, environmentalists and industry representatives, from 179 nations, including India, will gather in Geneva for the final round to negotiate a global treaty to beat plastic pollution and create a sustainable future.
