Gujarat clears incentive support for chemical, auto and textile projects worth Rs 1,567 crore
Gandhinagar, June 19
Gujarat has approved incentive assistance for 15 major industrial projects involving a combined investment of Rs 1,567.18 crore under the Incentive to Industries Scheme of the Industrial Policy-2015, with the projects expected to generate around 1,238 direct employment opportunities.
The approval was granted at a meeting of the committee responsible for issuing Final Eligibility Certificates to large industrial units under the scheme, officials said on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Industries Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
The scheme provides Net SGST-linked incentive support to eligible industries setting up operations in Gujarat and is aimed at promoting manufacturing activity, technological development and large-scale industrial investment in the state.
According to official data presented in the meeting, the scheme has so far attracted cumulative investments of Rs 1,48,336.35 crore in Gujarat and facilitated nearly 1,65,053 direct jobs.
It has also contributed to the expansion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the broader industrial ecosystem in the state.
In the latest approvals, the largest investment was recorded in the chemical sector in Bharuch district at Rs 999.82 crore.
In the automobile sector, projects worth Rs 75.72 crore in Ahmedabad district and Rs 44.56 crore in Surendranagar district were cleared.
A textile sector project valued at Rs 13 crore in Gandhinagar district was also approved for incentive support.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department, Jayanti Ravi; Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department, T. Natarajan; Industries Commissioner Swaroop P.; Director of Employment and Training, Stuti Charan; Joint Secretary in the Industries and Mines Department, Bhakti Shamal; Director of the Forest and Environment Department, Deepali Tank; and Treasurer of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, Gaurang Bhatt.

While the investment numbers are impressive, I hope the environmental aspects are also being carefully monitored, especially for chemical projects in Bharuch. Industrial growth is necessary but not at the cost of our rivers and air. Let's hope the Forest and Environment Department is doing its job properly.
This is a good sign for the state's economy. The textile sector project in Gandhinagar worth Rs 13 crore may seem small compared to chemicals, but it shows support for traditional industries too. With 1.65 lakh jobs already created through this scheme, Gujarat is setting an example for other states. 🇮🇳
Interesting to see the scale of industrial incentives in Gujarat. As someone watching from the UK, it's clear India's states are competing effectively for investment. The Net SGST-linked model is clever - linking tax revenue to actual performance. Would be curious to see how the ROI compares to other states.
Nice to see automobile projects in Ahmedabad and Surendranagar districts getting cleared. But I hope the job figures are actually realized - sometimes these projections don't fully materialize. Still, the overall 1.65 lakh direct jobs figure from the scheme is quite encouraging. Let's watch how the 1,238 new jobs pan out! 🤞
The investment diversity across chemicals, auto, and textiles is smart. Having a broad industrial base reduces risk. The presence of senior officials like Additional Chief Secretaries and the Industries Commissioner at the meeting suggests this is being taken seriously at the highest levels. Good governance in action.
