People won't call me sexy after 'Venkata In Sankata': Sharmila
Bangalore, Feb 1: Kannada actress Sharmila Mandre, who shot for a sensuous rain sequence in Venkata In Sankata, says she won't be tagged sexy after the movie releases.
"No, I don't think so because the sequence was shot aesthetically. I may look sensuous, but not sexy," Sharmila told IANS.
Sharmila describes "Venkata In Sankata" as a fun filled movie, but says shooting the rain sequence wasn't fun at all.
"Thank god the rain song was the last sequence that I shot for the movie. I am allergic to rain and always get sick after I getting drenched in rain. While shooting for the sequence, I was sure that I would fall sick. But Ramesh Aravind sir understood my problems - he would say cut immediately after seeing me totally drenched. And then he would allow me to dry off before re-starting the shoot again," Sharmila said.
"I have enjoyed watching rain sequences in films. But when I shot for the rain dance, I realised how difficult it is for any heroine to do such a sequence," she added.
Sharmila made her debut in Kannada films with "Sajini" and later featured in movies like "Ee Bhandhana", "Krishna" and recently released "Navagraha".
Ramesh Aravind, who is directing as well as playing main lead in "Venkata In Sankata", too features with Sharmila in the rain sequence. But he was covered while giving the shot.
"That is the advantage of being the director-actor. Jokes apart, I would say Sharmila was very professional during the rain sequence shooting. Doing a rain dance is painful for any actress, but she didn't show an iota of unpleasantness during the entire shoot," said Ramesh Aravind.
