Servant arrested for killing, robbing senior citizen in Delhi
New Delhi, July 13 : A domestic help was arrested for murdering and robbing a 67-year-old man in the national capital, police said Monday.
Surjit Munda, 20, was arrested by a team of Delhi police from his home town in Jharkhand Sunday where he fled after committing the crime July 5, a police officer said.
The bound and gagged body of Yashpal Soli was found in the bedroom of his Shresta Vihar residence in east Delhi. His wife Sudha, 60, was found lying unconscious beside him.
According to police, Singh went missing after the incident. He was re-employed by the couple only five days before the attack, and was yet to be verified with the police.
Singh had worked with the couple a few years back. He escaped with Rs.250,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs.1 million.
'Singh has confessed to killing Soli. He has named two more people who were involved in the crime and they will be arrested soon,' the officer said.
