Talk show to talk of commoners

Kolkata, Jun 21 : Every life has a unique story to tell. Tales told by a commoner can also be celebrated every inch, beyond all tangible conflicts between appearance and reality.

Chatterly, a talk show aired on Sundays at 2230 hrs since June 14 on TV Southasia, aims at depicting the psychological profile of a persona in this unique show.

It eyes unfurling a persons identity residing in a hibernated mode. If an accountant is an avid sitar player, his craftsmanship as an artist will be under spotlight,' Sujoy Chatterjee, anchor of the event telecast in TV Southasia, recently said.

'Chatterly is a talk show with a difference, aired simultaneously in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Instead of interviewing the well-established celebrities, it aims at celebrating the extra-ordinary stories of ordinary people through a half-an-hour weekly programme,' Sujoy Chatterjee added.

'There is no parameter when it comes to choosing the person to be interviewed. It can be you. It can be the person beside you and it can be anybody around you. Chatterly is a hearty course of communication with those who create celebrities,' Chatterjee said.

Elaborating on the shows ambience, he said it would vary from outdoor to indoor, based on moods and dispositions.

'For instance, if one has a penchant for a long drive, the show could be conducted inside a moving car, with the interviewee taking on the wheels. In fact, a research team will be associated with finding the suitable environment. Sometimes I will be doing the research myself,' he averred.

Asked whether celebrities would also creep into the shows, Chatterjee informed that renowned figures and known personae might join in and efforts would be made at inviting the viewers to discern their 'other sides or wild streaks.'

Meanwhile, TV Southasia Senior Producer Abhishek Sinha Roy informed, 'Initiatives are on to extend the domain of the show from Kolkata to the entire SAARC countries. Based on the initial response, we might move in the neighbouring countries to showcase the lives of commoners through Chatterly.'
