Mithunda revisits Krishnan Iyer days
Kolkata, May 21 : A coveted stage, a legend's legendary song and a modern day interpretation of 'main hoon Krishnan Iyer MA nariyal paani wala'… what a moment to capture!
We are talking about the coveted stage of Zee TV's Lux Dance India Dance, Jai Kumar Nair's last performance before the finale, Grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty's legendary movie 'Agneepath' and his legendary character 'Krishnan Iyer MA'
Mithun da was thoroughly touched by Jai's performance. It was a reminiscent of his younger youthful but struggling days. When Jai confessed to Mithun da that though he somehow managed to copy his dancing style but just could not emulate his whacky expressions, Mithun Da went on to narrate a very touchy incident behind the development of this weird character .
Those days, Mithun da used to live in a kind of Paying Guest arrangement in Koliwada where generally the fourth class employees of the BMC used to put up. There one paid Rs.150 to sleep on a single bed and paid Rs. 75 to sleep on the floor. Mithun Da had the floor arrangement and had a Mallu (malyali) roommate who used sleep on the single bed. Unfortunately one night Mithun da was bitten by a huge rat. He bled profusely and as a result could not sleep the whole night. In the morning, when he found that his roommate had left for work, he decided to give some comfort to his battered body and slept on his bed. As luck would have it instead of returning in the evening, this fellow returned within couple of hours!
Upon seeing Mithun Da lying on his bed, his rage knew no boundaries. He started abusing Mithun da in his Malyali accented Hindi, 'tumhara himmat kaise hua mere bed pe sone ki…tum mere bed ko ganda karega , toh dekhna main loongi uthake tumahara kya haal karega” …… that's how Mithun Da got inspired when he had to emulate the character of Krisgnan Iyer MA Nariyal Paani wala…..”
Today Mithun Da laughs when he narrates the incident, but the proof of his success lies in the struggles he has seen in his life…
The story does not end here. At the after shoot celebrations, the fatigue and the burn out vanished out of everybody and not only the participants but the entire cast and crew jumped on the floor to set it on flames. Since it was the last day of the shoot everybody let their hair down and partied hard sans all stress and tension.
The wonder of all wonders was of course Mithun da! When a no – nonsense person like him took the stage, the crowd went berserk. Everybody wanted to waltz with him especially our lissome anchor Saumya Tandon and coveted Master Geeta Kapoor. Poor Jay Bhanushali didn't know what to do! Since Saumya was busy with dada and Terence, he had to content himself with Alisha and Khushboo.
Terence Lewis was looking a dapper and was seen mingling with the Zee and the UTV guys! Remo D' Souza was having a great time dancing with the participants and assistants!
This was the final and the last party of this season of Zee Dance India Dance, a show which redefined the meaning of Dance based reality shows.
The finale will be telecasted live from Andheri Sports Complex on May 30.
May the most deserving win the coveted ' Taqdeer Ki Topi'…!
