Richardson talks about DRS on ICC radio show
Dubai, Nov 27 : ICC’s General Manager – Cricket, David Richardson, talks about the recently implemented decision review system (DRS) and explains how the available technology will be beneficial to the game, on this week’s ICC Cricket World radio show.
Richardson said: “The ultimate aim is to make sure we avoid clear mistakes, mistakes which you get to know sitting in your sitting room. If we can get the percentage of correct decision-making from 92-93 per cent to 97-98 per cent, it means we have achieved our objective.
“Majority of the umpires are in favour of the system. Those who are convinced think it will make their jobs easier and will take the pressure off them. What the umpires like about the system is that they will continue with their jobs as normal and the system will not de-skill them in any way.”
This week’s show also includes a special feature on India fast bowler S.Sreesanth in which he talks about his achievements and targets.
He said: “I don’t compromise on pace whenever I play. I will never play cricket for the sake of playing. I want to be up there by regularly clocking 140-145kph. God-willing, I will touch 150kph as that’s my dream.”
Apart from these interviews, this week’s ICC Cricket World also includes the latest news from around the world as well as updates on the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings.
The weekly ICC Cricket World audio show runs for 15 minutes and has been put together by the ICC’s global broadcast partner ESPN STAR Sports.
