'Tribute to Madhur Bhandarkar' at Cairo filmfest
Cairo (Egypt), Nov 23 : Film Director Madhur Bhandarkar has added more feathers to his cap as under the section of 'Tribute to Madhur Bhandarkar' , a retrospective of five of his films were showcased at the recently held 33rd Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt.
The films include Chandni Bar, Page3, Corporate, Traffic Signal and Fashion.
After Moscow International Film Festival, this is the second time that Bhandarkar's retrospective is being held.
Hollywood Actresses Salma Hayek, Lucy, Liu and Hollywood Actors Samuel L.Jackson, Tom Berenger attended the event. Legendary Actor Omar Sharif is the Honorary President of the Festival.
Madhur said: 'I am extremely honoured with such a prestigious honour. I am glad that I got a chance to represent my nation once again at a foreign film festival. Cairo International Film Festival is a very renowned film festival and I feel very lucky and blessed that I was at a platform alongside Hollywood films.'
Also commenting on the genre of his films Madhur said, 'My movies are not exposive, maybe they just hold up a mirror to society. My movies are not judgmental, I just show what happens in our society, sometimes there could be a solution and sometimes there may be none. Life goes on.'
Known for his socially relevant and hard hitting films Madhur has been felicitated with the highest honour in the Hindi Film Industry by winning the prestigious National Award thrice for his films Chandani Bar, Page-3 and Traffic Signal.
Madhur's latest film 'Jail' which released on Nov 6, is also collecting quite a rave reviews. The film casts Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse and is about an insight in to the life in prison.
