Preview: Odipolaama (2009)

Production: V Bharani, Direction: Kanmani, Star-casts: Parimal, Sandhya, Vasundhara, Mahadevan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Suman Shetty, Thambi Ramaiah and others., Music: D. Imman, Cinematography: Anil

Young couples in love eloping from their homes–such stories aren’t something off the wall when it comes to Kollywood. Perhaps, it turned to be an irksome for many audiences when they had to repeatedly watch similar films. By chance, if you had presumed ‘Odipolaama’ (meaning–Let’s elope) to be a film of that sort, then you’ve drawn a wrong assumption.

Says director Kanmani: ‘As the title ‘Odipolaama’, the film is about a young lad and missy running away from their homes. But for a greater difference from other films, they’re not in love with each. So, why are they on the run? You’ve got to watch it over the screens that a completely new-fangled screenplay…’

The film has actress Sangeetha’s brother Parimal making his debut in lead role while ‘Kadhal’ Sandhya stars opposite him in female lead. Adding more about the film, Kanmani says that the story of ‘Odipolaama’ was conceptualized before a very long time and didn’t get the right actors to perform the role. Finally, it was Parimal and Sandhya whom he felt would suit the role.

D. Imman has scored peppy songs for this film and Anil’s cinematography is expected to enchant us with his eye-catching visuals. The film has been extensively shot across exotic locales of Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangkok. Apart from Parimal and Sandhya, Vasundhara, Mahadevan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Suman Shetty and Thambi Ramaiah have performed prominent roles in this film.

Parimal is so sure that ‘Odipolaama’ will be the best launch and thanks his sister Sangeetha and her parents having rendered a good support to become an actor. Well Sandhya, who had no better releases after her debut ‘Kadhal’, is sure about making headway with this flick.

The film will be released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu by first week of December.
