Chavan announces 100-day programme
Mumbai, Nov 8 : The newly formed Ashok Chavan-led Congress-NCP government today listed its priorities to be implemented during the first 100 days of rule, including farm loans at subsidised three per cent rate and provision of Rs 600 pension to economically destitute people under the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana.
The new government also promises to come up with effective policies to control price rise and to get rid of Naxalism and terrorism. District and Taluka level water conservation projects would also be actively implemented to tackle water shortage and draught-like situation in the state.
The list also focuses on welfare of girl child, as a scheme has been planned under which a fixed deposit will be created on the birth of a girl and she will get Rs 1.25 lakh as soon as she attains adulthood.
People living below poverty line will be provided with a Health Card, through which they can avail free treatment and surgery for critical diseases like heart problems, cancer, kidney malfunctioning and brain tumour.
Even though the first phase of cotton purchase has started at the district level, it will be taken up at the taluka level next week and the purchase would be carried out under strict supervision to ensure welfare of farmers.
A time-bound programme would be chalked out to make Maharshtra a global state and also enhance the per-capita income to Rs one lakh.
Efforts would also be made to redress public grievances immediately.
Expressing concern over mounting farmers' suicide cases, steps would be initiated to check this disturbing trend.
Separate departments will be formed for the development of small and medium enterprises. Industrial investments will be directed to backward areas to ensure all-round development of the state.
Developmental works worth Rs 50,000 crore, currently going on in Mumbai, will be completed within a stipulated period.
The new government also aims to make Maharashtra load shedding free by 2012. Focus would also be given on improving law and order situation in Mumbai and other parts of the state.
