New Maha CM, deputy CM visit Chaityabhoomi to take Ambedkar's blessings

Mumbai, Nov. 8 : Maharashtra's newly appointed Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and Deputy Chief Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday visited Buddhist monument, Chaityabhoomi, to take the blessings of Dr. B R Ambedkar.

'Today is our first day of taking over the office and also our first cabinet meeting. So, it was important to come here and offer prayers to Dr. B R Ambedkar and receive his blessings. Today, we will discuss the problem of load shedding and providing electricity to all,' Bhujbal said.

He added that problems of price rise, drinking water and unemployment and development of Maharashtra will be main aim of the new government, Bhujbal said.

Congress leader Ashok Chavan and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal were sworn in as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday.

Ashok Chavan along with 37 other cabinet ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor S C Jamir here at the Raj Bhawan, as the Congress-NCP alliance formed government after a wait of 16 days since poll results of the State Assembly were announced.

The new Government has 18 ministers from the Congress party and 20 from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
