Six additional CRPF companies reach Lalgarh, PCPA agitation on
Lalgarh, Nov 5 : Six additional companies of the CRPF reached Lalgarh this morning, bringing the total number of the combined forces to 25 companies so far, even as the PCPA continued its road blockade movement demanding immediate withdrawal of the forces from the Jungle Mahal areas.
IG, Western Range, Kuldip Singh said despite the indefinite road blockade movement which started yesterday, the CRPF personnel reached as scheduled and no untoward incident took place in the Jungle Mahal areas since yesterday.
The additional forces will be deployed for ensuring safety and security of ten BDO offices adjacent to the Lalgarh area, it is learnt.
More than 50 per cent of 100 Gram Panchayat offices in these areas are under lock and key for the last few months. Government employees working in the most of these blocks are suffering from a fear psychosis and consequently attendance at government offices is very poor in these areas.
These additional six companies have also been sent in view of the visit of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya to West Midnapore district on November 7 and 8.
Meanwhile, Asit Mahato, Convenor of the PCPA, criticised the Chief Minister's proposed marathon meeting in Midnapore Circuit House to be followed by a public meeting at Debra on Saturday and Sunday.
''Such meetings have been held a lot of times earlier but no development of Jungle Mahal areas could be seen. He should have personally come to Lalgarh for an on-the-spot study of whether a single development project has been completed here. But does not have the guts to come to Lalgarh as the government has lost face in front of the tribals,'' Mahato said.
