Haryana earmarks Rupees 720 crore for municipal development schemes
Chandigarh, Nov 5 : The Haryana Government has made a provision of Rupees 720.47 crore for providing financial assistance under various schemes to the Municipalities in the State for execution of infrastructure development schemes during 2009-10.
An official spokesman today said that the major schemes under which financial assistance was being provided to the Municipalities included Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for small and Medium towns (UIDSSMT), Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) and Scheme for Development of Municipal Wards with more than 50 per cent Schduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe(SC/ST) population.
He said that for JNNURM, a budget provision of Rs 300.69 crore had been proposed in the state budget for the current financial year.
Initially, only Faridabad town of the State was covered under the scheme. Now, Panchkula town had also been included under JNNURM.
The Municipal Corporation, Faridabad had got prepared six Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) costing Rs 1942.04 crore under Sub Mission-I and five DPRs costing Rs 226.90 crore under Sub Mission-II.
In addition, Transport Commissioner, Haryana had also submitted a DPR for purchase of buses for Urban Transport costing Rs 54.60 crore. Out of these 12 DPRs, 7 DPRs amounting to Rs 823.39 crore had already been approved by the Centre. The Central Government had released Rs 158.15 crore and state government had released Rs 63.18 crore as its share, he added.
