Karnataka CM to leave to New Delhi to meet party's central leaders
Bangalore, Nov 4 : Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who has been rattled with severe dissident activities against his leadership, would leave for Delhi later today to hold talk with party's central leaders to find an amicable settlement with the rebels.
Speaking to reporters in Dharwad, a bout 400 km from here after reviewing the flood relief work, today expressed confidence that impasse created within state BJP would be last in a day or two, and said that 'everything would become clear shortly'.
He was in the North Karnataka city to inaugurate the state-sponsored 'Aasare' a rehabilitation programme for the flood victims with the cooperation from the Corporate sector, which has come forward to build houses for the displaced by the recent floods.
He said he would meet top party leaders to find a lasting solution to end rebellion.
He said he was not averse to meet the Reddy Brothers, the mine tycoons from Bellary district, who are leading the rebellion against him in Delhi.
Expressing regrets about the legislators who were gunning for 'chair' and 'ignored' the plight of the flood affected in their constituencies by staying in resorts in Goa and Hyderabad, he said, "They have to explain the reason for such disappointing conduct to the public." Meanwhile the legislators led by the Reddy's were still 'holed up' in the five star resorts, waiting for the outcome of the BJP central leadership's initiative.
The Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy, who insisted on change in leadership, along with Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar was held series of meetings with the party's Central leaders including BJP president Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj in Delhi. The dissident leaders who claims the support of majority of party MLA's, were reportedly mounting pressure on the central leadership to go for a head count and relentlessly continued their tirade against Chief Minister.
Even though the ruling BJP was involved in serious squabbles the Opposition parties including Congress and JD(S) have decided to tread cautiously and are waiting for the right opportunity to exploit the situation.
A delegation of Congress leaders from the state have met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi and submitted a memorandum seeking more funds for the Karnataka to take up rehabilitation work in the flood hit Northern Karnataka region. The delegation of Congress leaders were also expected to explain the political situation arising out of the dissident activities within the state BJP, to Prime Minister.
