Election campaign for Himachal bypolls end tomorrow

Shimla, Nov 4 : Campaigning for byelections to Rohru and Jawali Assembly constituencies slated to be held on November 7 comes to an end tomorrow.

In a press communique issued here yesterday Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mr Anil Kumar Khachi instructed the political parties that no campaign could take place after the closure of campaign period and only office bearers of political parties who were in charge of the State would be allowed to be present in the constituencies.

He further informed that Election Commission had directed that all district election and police officers should restrict the movement of those political functionaries who had been provided security by the State.

The CEO said no liquor would be sold during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of poll.

This restriction would be applicable on the the counting day, November 10 as well.

Meanwhile, November 7 has been declared as a gazetted holiday in the constituencies to enable the government employees to cast their votes. Daily wage workers would also get a paid holiday on the day of polling.
