Lynn Blasts Pop Stars For Not Supporting Troops

Former forces sweetheart DAME VERA LYNN has slammed modern day singers - insisting they don't do enough to support U.K. troops in war zones.

The veteran star, who made her name performing in the Second World War, believes today's entertainers are too caught up in their own egos to travel to dangerous regions and cheer up soldiers.

And Lynn is convinced pop stars don't make the trips because they rely too heavily on modern technology to make them sound good.

She tells Britain's Radio Times, "It's strange there aren't any songs for Afghanistan. A lot of them can't sing unless they have all their equipment, and it's not easy carting it around the jungle."

In September (09), the singer made history by becoming the oldest living artist to top the U.K. album chart with her compilation We'll Meet Again - The Very Best of Vera Lynn.
