Bala Nandgaonkar appointed as MNS legislature party leader
Mumbai, Nov 2 : Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray today appointed four-time MLA Bala Nandgaonkar as the leader of the party in the state legislature.
Mr Nandgaonkar, who made his maiden entry in the legislature way back in 1995 by defeating the NCP legislature party leader Chhagan Bhujbal, who was then a Minister, had represented Mazgaon constituency in the city for three consecutive terms.
Mr Nandgaonkar was the only MLA from Shiv Sena to join MNS, when Mr Thackeray parted his ways from the parent party. He got elected from the Sewri constituency in the 12th state legislative Assembly polls recently.
Mr Thackeray also appointed MNS MLA from Nashik, Vasant Gite (Nashik) as the deputy leader, which is a significant move as the party has a considerable hold in Nashik. He appointed Nitin Sardesai, who won the Assembly polls from the Mahim constituency, as the whip. The Mahim seat includes Dadar, which is a Shiv Sena citadel.
