Fire in 8 IOC tanks dies out; toll mounts to 10
Jaipur, Nov 1 : Flames billowing out of eight of the 11 oil tanks in Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) depot at Sitapura here since Thursday evening, have died out even as the toll in the fire mounted to 10.
However, the blaze from remaining three tanks were still raging high and might take some more time to die out, Jaipur District Collector Kuldeep Ranka said.
IOC General Manager (Sales and Operation) Gautam Bose said over 11 overhead-floating-storage tanks with around 63,200 Kilolitre of petro fuel, petrol-diesel and kerosene, were destroyed in the devastating fire.
A police spokesman here said two charred bodies had been recovered and brought to the SMS Hospital for autopsy today. With this, the official death toll has gone up to 10.
An inquiry committee to probe into the incident has also been set up. Inquiry committee head and former IOC Chairman Mahesh B Lal is scheduled to arrive here tomorrow to begin the probe.
