Cabinet approves four laning of Moradabad-Bareilly section of NH-2
New Delhi, Oct 29: The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved four laning of 121 km stretch on Moradabad-Bareilly section of NH-24 in Uttar Pradesh under NHDP Phase III on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT ) basis.
The project road will facilitate in reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic plying between Lucknow and New Delhi via Bareilly, Rampur and Moradabad. Besides, it will add to the transportation facilities for users going to Nainital via Rampur.
The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 1267 crore under the DBFO pattern. The project will have a concession period of 25 years including a construction period of 30 months.
The project is covered in the three districts of the State of UP--Moradabad, Rampur and Bareilly. In addition to these districts, the road users between Lucknow to Delhi and Delhi to Nainital would be benefited.
The Union Cabinet had given approval for four/six laning of 4000 Km of National Highways under the NHDP Phase IIIA on BOT basis in its meeting held in March, 2005. Subsequently, the Government approved additional stretches for the implementation of four laning.
The total tentative length of 12109 Km is being done at an estimated cost of Rs 80,626 crore. The stretch under consideration is one of the approved stretches.
