Fish fair attracts hundreds in Manipur
Imphal, Oct 27 : The Manipur Government has organised a fish fair cum competition to promote the fish business and help people get fish at reasonable prices in the state.
The fair is being organized by the Directorate of Fisheries on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba every year.
'The demand of the fish is very high on this occasion. Most of the population in. Eat fish that is why we organize this fish fair. To make available fish in plenty and at reasonable rates,' said Kesar Kumar, Directorate of Fisheries.
The fair is also aiming to promote and encourage fish farmers to produce more.
Hundreds of buyers rush to the fish fair for best purchases.
'The price of the fish in the fair is almost same as in the market. But we get a fair deal here. They provide us the fishes in right quantity whereas in the market we are given less,' said a local.
Over a hundred fish farmers in the state are participating in the fair.
