Renowned Malayalam actress Adoor Bhavani passes away
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25: Veteran Malayalam actress Adoor Bhavani passed away following an old age related illness at her residence at Adoor in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala today.
She was 82. She is survived by a son.
During the past seven years she was under treatment and her last film was 'Sethurama Iyer CBI'.
During her four-decade long acting career, which began with the film 'Sariyo Thetto', directed by late film actor Thikkurussi Sukumaran Nair, she had given life to more than 300 films, besides a large number of serials and plays, She was active in tinsel world till six years ago, and she had acted with almost all the actors and actresses in the Malayalam film Industry right from Thikkurissi to Mohanlal, Mammootty and Dileep.
Born to Adoor Parappurath Kunjuraman Pillai and Kunjamma, Bhavani entered into films accidentally when Thikkurissi spotted her and offered her a role in Sariyo Thetto, while accompanying her sister Adoor Pankajam for shooting in a location spot. From then onwards she never looked back.
Bhavani received the first State Film award for best supporting actress in 1969 for her role in 'Kallichellama'.
Before switching over to celluloid world, she had acted in a large number of plays for various troupes, including KPAC and Kalanilayam.
Her body would be cremated with State honors tomorrow at her residence.
