Give 'Mad Love' a miss

By R.G. Vijayasarathy, Film: "Mad Love"; Cast: Ramu, Raveena, Dodda Rangegowda, Padmavasanthi, Prameela Joshai and others; Director: Teja; Music Director: Goochi; Cinematographer: Anand; Rating: *

First time director Teja's "Mad Love" made with newcomers is an atrocious attempt at filmmaking. It is supposed to narrate the story of a dejected lover, but the film is so amateurishly handled that the audience may walk out without seeing the entire movie.

Untrained actors, over acting, shabby technical work add up to make "Mad Love" a bad watch.

There is not even one sequence in the film which could be linked to present despite the fact that the story deals with present times. It looks like a film made in fifties. Even the costumes of the hero and heroine look dated.

The story is about a rich guy Manu (Ramu), in love with a middle class girl Ramya (Raveena). Mamu's rich father gives importance to family prestige hence opposes his son's decision to marry a school teacher's daughter. He threatens Ramya's family.

Halfway through the film Ramya dies. Mamu loses his mental balance. Police and doctors try to find him. Finally, Mamu ends his own life.

Newcomers Ramu and Raveena give blank expressions, while veteran artists over act in the film.

It is a pity that a veteran like music director Goochi is part of the film because on technically front too it disappoints.

If you are a genuine film fan, give "Mad Love" a miss.
