Jayalalithaa opens largest Amma canteen

Chennai, Nov 20 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday inaugurated the largest 'Amma' canteen in Chennai for providing cheap food to the poor.

The 5,100 sq ft canteen at state-owned Government General Hospital (GGH) in Chennai will sell idlis for Re. 1, rice dishes for Rs. 5 and chapattis for Rs 3 per piece.

So far, Jayalalithaa has set up at least 200 'Amma' canteens in Chennai. The welfare scheme has already become a hit among the masses.
