PepsiCo invites farmers to watch IPL
After adding extra fizz to the fan experience at Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL), food and beverage major PepsiCo India is all set to make this edition of the T20 cricket tournament special for its farmer friends.
The company has invited over 100 farmers from West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra and Rajasthan to watch the IPL matches live at the stadiums.
In West Bengal, 50 farmers will get an opportunity to cheer for their home team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Of these, 30 will be able to see the Kolkata Knight Riders in action vs Chennai Super Kings on April 20; while 20 will be there to support Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab on April 26.
Presently, the company is working with over 24,000 farmers across nine states.
The engagement has been on two fronts - collaborative farming of process grade potatoes and water conservation in agriculture through innovative techniques like Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) and Drip Irrigation.
"It is our pleasure and privilege to host some of our farmer friends at Pepsi IPL matches as a small gesture of gratitude," said Manu Anand, Chairman, PepsiCo India.
The farmers invited for the matches have demonstrated leadership in improving yield, conserving water and have had a long-term partnership with PepsiCo.
