'Master of charity walk' Botham completes 'greatest' trek in Sri Lanka

Johannesburg, Nov 9 : Cricket legend Ian Botham has raised over a quarter million dollars by completing his greatest charity walk in Sri Lanka on Friday.

According to Sport24, the Englishman walked an average 32km a day travelling from the war-batted north of the island and reached a southern village devastated by the 2004 Asian tsunami to complete his eight-day trek.

He raised more than 256,000 dollars for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which funds charitable activities in 34 countries, the report said.

Botham said that it had been terrific and he was delighted to have raised so much for such a good cause.
