Cyclone hits Andaman, alert for Odisha, Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, Oct 9 : After a cyclonic storm hit Andaman and Nicobar islands on Wednesday afternoon, the Met department issued alerts for areas along the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha for the next 48-72 hours. According to the Met department, a deep depression has formed over the North Andaman Sea on Wednesday morning. The cyclone has hit the islands near the Mayabandar between 12.30-1.30 pm, resulting in heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Odisha state government has cancelled the Durga Puja holidays of employees in coastal districts owing to the possible cyclone. Fishermen have been asked to not venture into Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
