LFW: Suhani Pittie brings innovative accessories
Mumbai, Mar 23 : Designer Suhani Pittie brought earthy glamour to her jewellery line at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer/Resort 2013 here on Friday.
Her collection called "Dances with the Earth" revealed raw ancient beauty that celebrated the particular form of paganism seen amongst tribes of centuries gone by.
Suhani's jewellery revealed a spiritual and soul searching aspect, which had an arresting impact on the ramp. Using copper, one of the earliest metals favoured by humans, Suhani created circles of connection as the base for the spiral bangles and rustic neckpieces.
But it was the coloured cords that were coiled to bind the jewellery that created an interesting touch. The entwining trellis, vines, flora and fauna of the forest were seen as patterns along with the sun, moon, earth and nature.
Adding acrylic as a contrast to the ancient metal, the collection comprised striking hairbands, borlas, ear buttons, ear kanautis, belts, cuffs, bangles, armbands, anklets and of course necklaces.
The bird crown cord bracelet, the Borla inspired hair band, the necklace set in copper with warrior's spears and the square bangles with similar leaf work were amazing pieces of craftsmanship.
The layered necklace with motifs, the broad haslee with circle motifs, a totem inspired pendant, primeval ear buttons and the circle hoop neckpiece revealed the beauty of the earthy designs.
