The terrorists on mobikes fired on the security men on Saturday while a civilian was injured, reported NDTV.
While Srinagar area was tensed after the firing, the sighting of terrorists prompted the police to sound a red alert in Kathua and Jammu. Kathua is 88 km south of the state's winter capital of Jammu.
At least 12 people, including six Armymen and four cops, were killed in the twin militant attacks at a police station and an Army cantonment in the same region of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning.
A massive search operation has been launched after the sighting of terrorists, said police.
Reports said schools in Kathua district have been closed down.
After the twin attack of Thursday morning, the Indian Army gunned down three terrorists who sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir and killed people.
The terrorists were from the banned Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
