'Struggling' Broad 'inspired' by Anderson's success

London, May 12 : England pacer Stuart Broad has said that he has been taking inspiration from the success of fellow quick James Anderson following his frequent struggles with form and fitness.

Although Broad's career has known troughs as well as peaks, he has accomplished a lot considering the fact that he is only 26- two successful Ashes campaigns, a ICC title, along with Twenty20 captainship, the Independent reports.

Broad, who will begin his eighth summer as an England player during the Lord's Test against New Zealand barring any injury, said that he is trying to plan the second half of his career and draws encouragement from the path followed by Anderson, who has also displayed immense talent but little consistency during his early 20s.

Hoping to grow into one of the finest seam bowlers of the world like Anderson did in the past five years, Broad said that he had a conversation with Anderson, where the player revealed to him his journey, adding that he got inspired by Anderson's efforts and is looking to emulate his teammate's success in the years ahead.

The report further said that Broad's optimism portends well for England, as he had faced a winter in which he had grappled with both form and fitness with a long-running heel injury.

However, the report added that extensive work with England's medical team, coupled with the use of special boots that gave Broad's foot extra cushioning in the delivery stride, could have made the situation rosier.

Admitting that the problem could occur again, Broad, however, said that he has stopped worrying about it and is in free spirits again, adding that with his boots, he is hoping to perform well on the field.

Mulling on the potential shown by New Zealand to place England under strain, Broad said that coupled with the upcoming Ashes battle, they have got a quest to get back to the top of the world Test rankings and the opportunity to win four Ashes series on the bounce.
