New Delhi/Chandigarh, May 6 : Pakistan High Commissioner Salman Bashir will visit injured Pakistan prisoner Sanaullah Haq, who was attacked by inmates in an Indian jail last week, at a Chandigarh hospital on Monday.

The visit was confirmed by Pakistan High Commission on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Haq's condition continued to be critical, reports said

Haq was air-lifted to a Chandigarh hospital from Jammu and Kashmir on Friday after he was attacked in a Jammu prison.

The Indian convict, Vinod Kumar, who had allegedly attacked Haq, was sent to seven-day police custody on Saturday, reports said.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday said the inmates who attacked a Pakistan prisoner in an Indian jail will be punished.

The repercussions of the fatal attack on Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh inside the Pakistan jail that caused his death on Thursday morning was felt in India with inmates in Central Jail at Kot Bhalwal in Jammu seriously assaulting the Pakistani prisoner.
