Nandan Nilekani to join Congress

Bangalore, Jan 10 : Infosys co-founder and head of Aadhar programme Nandan Nilekani on Friday said he will join the Congress party and will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls if the party gives him a ticket.

"I certainly believe that I should do something in politics. If Congress gives me ticket, I will contest the Lok Sabha elections this year," he said while speaking to reporters after interacting with the students of Christ College.

He said the he will join the Congress party as 'it has been very supportive to my ideas'.

Nilekani, who is the Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), said he is in talks with the Congress party about the constituency from which he should be contesting.

He said that more corporate people should join politics as it is is the only mean to bring change in society.

Nilekani had quit Infosys as Co-Chairman in 2009, after he was appointed as the Chairman of UIDAI by the government.
