Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal kept his promise with the citizens by announcing supply of nearly 700 litres of free water a day to the people of the national capital.

On Monday the announcement was made despite Kejriwal himself remaining sick at home.

The free water decision, to be implemented from Jan 1, will be reviewed after three months. The free water, 20 kilo litre to be supplied per month to each household, will be available for those with water meters.

AAP leader Kumar Vishwas said there is no time limit for free water supply, we will continue with this."

Kejriwal, earlier, tweeted: "It was so imp to attend office today. We had planned the water announcement. God, bahut galat time par bimaar kiya. [God made me sick at the wrong time]."

The Delhi Jal Board officials earlier met on the issue.

Kejriwal on Monday said he is running high fever and will be unable to attend office.

"Running 102 fever since yesterday. Severe loose motions. Sad that i won't be able to attend office today," tweeted Kejriwal.

A day after he took over, Kejriwal on Sunday urged the people to give him a week or little more to settle down before he started delivering on promises.

"We just took over. Give us seven days or ten days," he told people at his first durbar with the common people who came calling to him with grievances.

"Give us some time to settle down," he said.

AAP supremo Kejriwal took oath as the seventh chief minister of Delhi on Saturday and had then transferred Chief of Delhi Jal Board Debashree Mukherjee.

He also shunted out eight other IAS officers.

The reason behind these transfers was speculated as that of massive corruption in the Delhi Jal Board.

Kejriwal himself retained Power, Home, Finance, Planning and Vigilance ministries.
