Mockingjay was released in 2010 in the month of August. It is the final edition of "The Hunger Gamestrilogy" by American author Suzanne Collins. It is a follow-up of the 2008- theHunger Games, and 2009- Catching Fire.
It takes the storyforward from where it ended in the Catching Fire. It carries on the story ofthe protagonist Katniss Everdeen, who leads the districts against theoppression of the Capitol. Katniss in this book becomes "the Mockingjay" whichis an emblem for the uprising against the dictatorial Capitol. Through herjourney she deals with disloyalty and violence against people. The received agreen signal from the critics, although the first two books received a moreenthusiastic response from the critics.
Collins has gone onrecord saying that she drew inspiration from the Greek myths of Theseus and Minotaur.The book is considered "the most brutal of the trilogy" by YvonneZipp of "The Christian Science Monitor".
