Kolkata, Mar 20 : Federation of West Bengal Truck Operators' Association (FWBTOA) has announced that it will join the nationwide indefinite stir called by All India Motor Transport Congress from April one.

FWBTOA general secretary Satyajit Majumdar said in a statement that the organisation was compelled to join the stir as the state transport department had not taken any initiative to stop overloading in trucks. He alleged that the transport department was also illegally collecting revenues from truckers for overloading of goods.

He said the truck operators were also facing problems to get or renew licence and also to sell their vehicles due to the new rules of the motor vehicles department.

FWBTOA also demands cease to police harassment, immediate repair of roads and instant withdrawal of hike in third party insurance premium.
