Los Angeles, Mar 16 : After directing hits like 'Resident Evil', 'Alien vs. Predator' and 'Death Race', Paul W.S. Anderson's next will be 'Pompeii', a 3-D action-adventure movie recounting one of history's greatest disaster stories.
Shooting for the period film commenced on Mar 13 in Pompeii, Italy and will shift to Toronto, Canada on Mar 28.
The film will be released by PVR Pictures in India.
Set in 79 A.D., 'Pompeii' stars Kit Harington (HBO's Game of Thrones, The Seventh Son) as Milo, a slave turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Flavia, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman General.
As Mt. Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.
Starring alongside Harington is Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Flavia, and Jared Harris (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, TV's Mad Men) as Lucretius, her father.
