Naveen makes minor reshuffle in portfolios
Bhubaneswar, Mar 15 : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today made a minor reshuffle in the portfolios after the resignation of Housing, Urban, Law and IT Minister Raghunath Mohanty in the wake of a dowry torture case lodged by his daughter-in-law Varsha Sony Choudhary
Mr Mohanty, a senior BJD leader and five-time MLA from Basta Assembly constiuency, had tendered his resigtnation to the Chief Minister at Naveen Nivas this morning on moral ground after his daughter-in-law filed an FIR against him and his family members in the Town police station at Balasore last night.
The Chief Minister, who accepted the resignation of Mr Mohanty, sent it to Governor M C Bhandare and announced that the cases against Mr Mohanty had been referred to the Human Rights Protection Cell for further inquiry.
Following the resignation of Mr Mohanty, the Chief Minister allotted the Housing and Urban portfolio to Agriculture Minister Debi Prasad Mishra and the law portfolio to Tourism and Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty.
State Food supply and Consumer Affairs minister Pratap Dev was given the additional portfolio of IT held by Mr Mohanty.
