Akhilesh launches free laptop scheme
Lucknow, Mar 11 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a free laptop scheme for intermediate pass students and presented laptops to nearly 10,000 students from colleges in the state capital Lucknow.
According to reports, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, who will complete a year in office on Mar 15, will present around 15 lakh laptops to students.
The laptops reportedly had stickers of Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in it.
"We made all efforts to fulfill our promises in a year," Yadav said.
In the election manifesto for state assembly elections last year, the SP had promised to give free laptops and tablets to students passing class 12 and 10 respectively.
