PM post not my priority: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, Mar 5 : A year before the Lok Sabha elections, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said becoming the Prime Minister of the country was not his priority.
"The Prime Minister's post is not my priority," Gandhi said.
"I believe in long-term politics," the Congress Vice President said.
Gandhi reportedly made the remarks while interacting with party MPs here.
Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor in January this year backed Gandhi's candidature as the next Prime Minister.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Tharoor said: "We will be in very capable hands if Rahul Gandhi takes over."
Gandhi offcially took charge as the Congress Vice President on January 23.
The decision was taken following a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) at the end of the party's two-day brainstorming conclave "Chintan Shivir" held in Jaipur this year.
