Four rhinos killed in a week at Kaziranga
By Hemanta Kumar Nath, Guwahati, Feb 2 : Another one-horned rhino was killed by poachers in Assam's Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Saturday morning, officials said.
Poachers killed the male rhino at Burapahar in the park in the wee hours of Saturday.
It is the fourth incident at KNP this week.
In the last seven days, poachers killed four rhinos and fled with three horns.
Meanwhile, the Assam forest department appealed to the state government for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry.
On Jan 27 and 28, poachers killed two rhinos at KNP and fled with their horns.
In a separate incident, a wild elephant died of bullet injuries at Nambor Forest Reserve in Golaghat district on Saturday.
