Madrid, Feb 1 : Spain's Atletico Madrid have allowed midfielder Emre Belozoglu to move back to Turkish football club Fenerbahce barely six months after signing him from the team.
The 32-year-old, who has also played for Inter Milan, Newcastle United and Galatasaray, struggled to make an impact in Spain after joining on a free transfer over the summer, reports Xinhua.
He made just 14 appearances in all competitions, the last of which was in Atletico's 0-3 defeat to Athletic Club Bilbao last Sunday in a game where he was substituted before the midway point of the second half.
However, although Emre struggled to make an impact in Spain, mainly due to the form of players such as Gabi, Raul Garcia, Mario Suarez and promising Atletico youngster, Koke, Fenerbnahce are glad to have back a player who has made 87 appearances for his country.
"Emre's quality is hard to find in a player," explained the club's assistant coach, Ismael Karat on the club's website.
"He is a player with great leadership quality, with self-confidence. Throughout his career he has gained experience which will be valuable to the team."
The midfielder is thought to have agreed a two-and-a-half year deal and will probably finish his career at the club where he had previously spent four seasons
