Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) National Institute of Professionals (NIP), in association with West Bengal Department of Social Welfare, on Thursday announced an Inclusive Cultural Festival 2012-13 at to be held at Mohorkunja in the city on Jan 24.
Inclusive Cultural Festival 2012-13 will witness the active participation of eminent personalities from Bangladesh and West Bengal.
The event will be jointly inaugurated by West Bengal Minister-in-Charge, Dept. of Women Development and Social Welfare Sabitri Mitra, Commissioner of Disabilities Mita Banerjee and music composer Debajyoti Mishra.
An art camp by the renowned painters of Bangladesh and West Bengal including painters with disabilities will be organized during the festival.
Cultural programmes like song, dance, drama and recitation by differently abled artists and renowned ones from West Bengal and Bangladesh will also be arranged.
Also, differently abled singers and poets will perform at the fest. Panel discussion and tunes of poets of Pandma-Gangetic Delta will be united with the tunes of poets with disabilities.
NIP NGO secretary Debajyoti Roy said, "This is a very unique programme because in our society people always want to maintain a distance between normal and disabled persons. People think that disable people cannot do the same thing as normal people can do. We are not perfectly able to do all the things."
"So in this sense we, all the normal people are also disabled in any one field. This is the perfect time to prove that disabled means differently abled and they can specialize in various fields and have expertise in painting, singing, dancing, recitation or any other arena too."
