Congress afraid of Modi: Jaitely
Senior BJP leader and leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely today said that the Congress was afraid of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and that's why it has launched a personal campaign against him.
Talking to media persons here this evening, Mr Jaitely said 'The Congress is contesting the election without any issue. It is a negative campaign. The Congress is not clear about its leadership in the state and thus it is indulging in a half-baked campaigning.' He said since it had no issue, the leaders and the ministers of Congress were making false promises and noted that they should remember that Gujarat is the most progressive state in the country.
He said the maximum corruption ever has taken place during the Congress-led UPA government's rule. He also said it had also increased the prices of cooking gas but Gujarat, led by Mr Modi, has seen all-round development under BJP rule.
While refusing to react to rebel leader Keshubhai Patel's statement against the Modi government, Mr Jaitely said Mr Patel was a senior leader of the party and the party respects him.
'Today we have differences with him but we respect him as a senior leader,' he added.
