Recent snowfall and rains have intensified the cold conditions in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.
"From the time there the upper regions received snowfall and we received rains, the temperature has dipped," said Naresh Thakur, a resident of Kullu.
The cold wave turned to be a boon for the roadside tea vendors as people were seen sipping hot tea.
In Srinagar, temperatures dipped drastically and Dal Lake was covered with a thick blanket of fog.
Mohammad Rafeeq, a resident of Srinagar, said people are praying for rains so that they can get some respite from the cold.
"It is very cold here since morning and the Dal Lake is also covered with fog. We pray to god for rains so that it the temperature is slightly normalised and we do not catch cold or have fever," he said.
People are using Kangris, the traditional Kashmiri fire pot, and Pherans to fight the chill.
