Guwahati traders enjoy Diwali bonanza

Diwali celebration proved to be a great time for traders in Guwahati, Assam.
The same zeal and enthusiasm were seen in neighbouring states, as markets were bustling with customers. Traders and local artisans made brisk business during this festival, which was observed recently.
"We have received great response. This season, these candles are in great demand during Diwali. And if people get something at discounted rate during this skyrocketing inflation, they will definitely give a good response," said Bani Devi, a shopkeeper.
Legend says millions of lamps were lit for Lord Ram's return after 14 years of exile. Crackers are a Diwali staple, ignited all over the country for the annual celebration.
