UP Assembly adjourned after condoling the death of state minister
The Uttar Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day after condoling the death of state minister Kameshwar Upadhaya on the first day of the brief Winter session here today.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav paid tributes to the Samajwadi Party MLA from Bhatparrani seat in Deoria district Upadhaya who died on October 29 last following a prolonged illness.
He was the sports, youth, culture and Ambedkargram minister in the state.
Mr Yadav said Upadhaya was a social worker who started his political career as a Block pramukh. He was first elected as Independent member in 1985 and thereafter, was elected twice on Congress ticket and twice as SP nominee from Bhatparrani seat.
Leader of the opposition and BSP member Swami Prasad Maurya, BJP legislature party leader Hukum Singh, Congress leader Pradeep Mathur, RLD leader Dalbir Singh and Peace Party leader Dr Ayub also expressed their condolence.
Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey also expressed his grief over the sudden demise of Upadhaya and the House was adjourned for the day after two minutes silence.
Now the Assembly would meet on Monday when the Chief Minister, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will table the first supplementary budget proposals. The Assembly will end on November 30 after holding four more sittings.
