BJP says Nitin Gadkari a social entrepreneur
Calling party president Nitin Gadkari a 'social entrepreneur' working for the farmers, the BJP today criticised the Congress for raising the issue of allegations against him and questioned why there is no probe against Robert Vadra in the DLF land deal case.
The BJP also queried why Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has not explained his role in the 2G spectrum scam and alleged irregularities in coal blocks allocation.
"Nitin Gadkari is a social entrepreneur. In the Vidarbha region a large number of farmers have committed suicide. And therefore to give them a ray of hope, he ventured into all these social enterprises and these factories were establised and today the farmers there are getting good prices for their crops," BJP chief spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
He was reacting to the reports that RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy, who did an analysis of the Purti Group on the basis of which the BJP decided to back its president, denied that he had given Mr Gadkari a clean chit.
Mr Prasad said Mr Gurumurthy has come to a conclusion that there was no wrongdoing by Purti Group and he has not made any u-turn on Mr Gadkari.
Mr Gurumurthy has also retracted his remarks.
"I think I am being misinterpreted. I have clearly said that the media allegations on Gadkari is false. If this is a clean chit I have given it. Let me clarify that I have given a clean chit to Gadkari on Purti affairs. That is all," the RSS ideologue tweeted.
