Alva, Gehlot and Shekhawat greet people on Diwali

Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and State Assembly Speaker Deependra Singh Shekhawat have greeted people on the eve of Diwali.

In her message, Ms Alva said, "Diwali signifies victory of the light of knowledge over the darkness of ignorance. It is festival of joy that is celebrated by people of all beliefs and faiths'.

The Governor appealed to people to celebrate the festival in harmony and peace and pray for prosperity of the nation.

The Chief Minister said, "the festival of lights gives us opportunity to restrengthen social and familial bonds and work for prosperity and progress in the state." Mr Gehlot also advised people who visit him on Diwali, not to bring gifts for him and instead donate money for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for utilisation for welfare of poor and needy masses.

In his message, Speaker Shekhawat said, "Diwali reminds us of our bright traditions, high values and rich heritage of socio-cultural unity."
