Puduvaibloggers urge Tamil Nadu CM not to reform Tamil letters

Puducherry, May 19 : Thanking convenor of the Tamil Classical Language Conference and Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil University M Rajendran for his statement that no statement on the reforms on Tamil letters will be there in the conference, the Puduvai bloggers today urged the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to take a similar decision.

In a statement here today, Mr R Sugumaran, convenor of the bloggers, said they were shocked to see a news item in an eveninger that Tamil Nadu Governemnt was to bring in certain reforms on Tamil letters.

Veeramamunivar had initiated the Tamil letter reforms in the 18th century followed by Thanthai Periyar in 1935.

Any further changes in the Tamil letters would make several information in Tamil on websites and in several books useless.

It would also make partially literate as illiterate, he added.
