The Rajya Sabha was Thursday disrupted over formation of Telangana and other issues, leading to an adjournment till 2 p.m.

After its first adjournment within minutes of assembling, the house witnessed noisy scenes.

Members from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) went near the chairman's podium, raising slogans to save Andhra Pradesh.

Members from the DMK and the AIADMK demanded steps to protect Tamil fishermen being targeted by the Sri Lankan navy.

Samajwadi Party members demanded the dismissal of Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma for attempting to "buy off" journalists.

Amid the din, Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurein adjourned the house till 2 p.m.

No business could be transacted except for the routine tabling of papers.
