Bhopal, Aug 18

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will transfer more than Rs 2,148 crore to the bank accounts of over 1.25 crore beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana at a state‑level programme in Maihar on Wednesday.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, the amount includes the scheme's 39th instalment and special assistance announced on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The 39th instalment of Rs 1,835.46 crore will be transferred at the rate of Rs 1,500 per beneficiary. An additional Rs 312.83 crore will be provided as a special Raksha Bandhan gift of Rs 250 per beneficiary. Thus, each eligible woman will receive Rs 1,750 directly in her bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Yadav will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth around Rs 256 crore in Maihar district during the programme.

The Ladli Behna scheme was launched in June 2023 by the then Shivraj Singh Chouhan government to provide financial assistance to women and strengthen their economic independence. The scheme initially provided Rs 1,000 in monthly assistance, which was later increased to Rs 1,250 and then to Rs 1,500.

The scheme continued after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in Madhya Pradesh in the 2023 Assembly elections and has since emerged as one of the state's major women‑centric welfare programmes.

With the latest transfer, the state government will have disbursed a cumulative Rs 63,248 crore to beneficiaries through 39 instalments since the scheme's launch, the CMO said. For the financial year 2026‑27, the government has made a budgetary provision of Rs 23,882.81 crore for the scheme.

The scheme covers eligible women in Madhya Pradesh and provides monthly assistance directly into their bank accounts through DBT. The government said the initiative aims to provide women with financial support and promote their economic independence.
